Warp Charge
A screaming line of Warp-light that leaves nothing whole in its wake.
Warp Charge is a signature active ability of the Psyker agent in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. It represents a violent, controlled surge of raw Warp energy that propels the Psyker forward in a devastating line, tearing through enemies in its path with psychic force. As one of the Psyker's core offensive tools, Warp Charge embodies the terrifying duality of psychic power in the Imperium: a weapon of extraordinary lethality that also draws the attention of things that dwell in the immaterium. Every use is a small gamble with the fabric of reality, and the Psyker knows it.

Lore & Background
In the Imperium of Man, a psyker is a walking heresy. The Ecclesiarchy would burn them on the spot; the Adeptus Mechanicus would dissect them for parts. Yet the Inquisition, in its cold pragmatism, keeps a handful of the most powerful among them leashed and deployed into the most desperate engagements. The Psyker of Darktide is one such instrument—trained, monitored, and expendable. Their power does not come from technology or muscle. It comes from the Warp, the boundless psychic dimension where daemons howl and reality thins to a whisper. Warp Charge is, in essence, a controlled detonation of that psychic potential directed along a single vector. The Psyker gathers the ambient Warp energy that clings to their mind, compresses it into a focused lance, and then *moves*—not with their legs, but with their will. The resulting charge is less a physical dash than a psychic assertion: *I am here, and what I touch is unmade.* Enemies caught in the path suffer psychic damage that bypasses conventional armor, because the wound is not in the flesh but in the mind and the soul. The cost is real. Every channeling of the Warp leaves the psyker's mind a little more permeable, a little more open to the things that press against the membrane of the immaterium. The Inquisitors who deploy these agents know this. They do not care. The Warp does not care. It only feeds.
In Their Own Story
The corridor stank of burnt polymer and old blood. Kael—Psyker Third, Inquisition-registered, serial number scratched off his collar—felt the thing behind the bulkhead shift its weight. Not a guard. Not a ratling. Something with too many joints and a hunger that made his molars ache. He didn't turn. Didn't need to. The Warp pressed against the back of his eyes like a thumb against a bruise, and he let it pool, let it thicken into a line of violet-white light stretching ahead of him through the smoke-choked passage. His boots left no prints. His body was already a vector, a sentence being spoken in the language of raw psychic force. He *charged*. The light tore through the bulkhead, through the thing on the other side, through the second bulkhead, and dissipated in a shower of sparks and screaming static. Kael skidded to a stop, nose bleeding, ears ringing with a frequency that wasn't sound. Behind him, the corridor was empty. The thing was not. A smear of something iridescent and wrong marked the wall where it had been. He wiped his nose with the back of a gauntleted hand. The Inquisitor's comm crackled: "Status."
"Clear," he said. And tried not to think about how the thing had looked at him, right before the light took it. How it had *smiled*.
Reader's Guide
**Psyker — Warp Charge**
Mechanically, Warp Charge is a linear dash that deals psychic damage to all enemies in the path of travel. Flavor-wise, it is the Psyker *willing* reality to part along a single line, and everything in that line pays the toll. In practice, use Warp Charge to close the distance on a cluster of enemies before they can focus fire, or to escape a cornered position by dashing through a doorway or over a gap. Because the damage is psychic and the path is linear, it shines against groups lined up in a hallway or stacked behind a single cover point. Pair it with your other psychic abilities to set up follow-up hits, and watch your Energy pool—spamming the charge without regenerating leaves you vulnerable and unable to channel your heavier powers. The Psyker is a glass cannon with a mobility kit. Warp Charge is the glue that keeps you alive long enough to glass the rest of the room. Channel it with intent, not desperation. The Warp rewards focus and punishes panic.
